Moving to Spain
From the Costa del Sol to Malaga, Marbella and Alicante, Spain is full of ideal places to live in.

Spain is a popular place for people to move to when they retire and for good reason. The landscape is spectacular, the cities are steeped in history and packed with stunning architecture, the people are warm and welcoming and the weather is glorious for most of the year. Close enough to Northern Europe to get home when you need to, Spain is the perfect place to set up your home from home when you retire.

Whether you choose to retire to a city or the countryside, there is something for everyone and Spain is the ideal location to truly enjoy your retirement years.

If you are in search of a seaside location for your retirement, consider the beautiful coastlines of the Costa Blanca, Costa de la Luz, or the popular Costa del Sol. Although frequented by tourists during the summer months, these are beautiful places to live in for most of the year.

Away from the large tourist resorts of Spanish coastal towns and cities, you will find quaint
fishing villages and peaceful olive groves, where life is notably slower paced than it is in larger cities. Many immigrants to Spain choose a villa or fully equipped apartment along these tranquil parts of the Spanish coast and you can spend your retirement with spectacular views of the clear, blue sea.

Spain is also a golf lover`s paradise and you will find a real community atmosphere around Spain`s many glorious
golf courses. You can tee off on world-class courses in hotspots such as Andalucia or the Canary Islands.

Spains main
cities - Madrid, Barcelona, Seville and Granada - are great places to visit on a short break from your retirement villa. Each city boasts its own unique charm and has a fascinating history to explore.

Barcelona is an enchanting city by the sea and you will find art around every corner. From the Picasso museum to the whimsical architecture of Gaudi, you will be amazed at the variety of artwork on display in the city. In the center of Spain, Madrid sits proud as the country`s capital city. You can catch a flamenco show in one of the city`s many late-night bars or spend an afternoon sipping a tinto de verano (drink of the summer) in a sundrenched square.

There are strong expat communities in Spain, although it is recommended that you learn a little of the language to truly experience Spanish culture and interact with the locals.

If you are planning on spending your retirement in Spain, however, there are a number of things you should take into consideration such as residencia and the other essential paperwork needed to live in the country. Whether you choose to spend just part of the year there or move to the country permanently, you will certainly enjoy your retirement in style. So why not make the move to Spain, where the sun always shines and you can live the good life ?
