Argentina , officially the Argentine Republic, is constituted as a federation of twenty-three provinces and an autonomous city (Buenos Aires). It is second in size, after Brazil , in South America and eight in the world. The population in 2008 is 40.7 million (estimate) and the biggest town is the capital, Buenos Aires, which, with a population of 12.4 million in Greater Buenos Aires, makes it one of the largest conurbations in the world.

The capital city of Argentina , Buenos Aires , is one of the most important cities in Latin America. One of the most interesting attractions of Buenos Aires is its architecture. Its style reflects the influence of the Spaniards, French and Italians in its buildings and in its parks. The city has wide avenues, mansions, extensive green spaces, hundreds of sculptures and a large quantity of churches.

The city's main plaza, the Plaza de Mayo, is home to most of the government buildings, including the famous Casa Rosado, the president's house. San Telmo, located next to Plaza de Mayo, is one of the ancient quarters of Buenos Aires city. It characterizes by its cobbled and narrow streets, colonial buildings and houses with English and French style. The traditional quarter has a bohemian and ancient air; you can visit churches, museums, antiques in the popular fair.

The Obelisk, which is a famous monument of Buenos Aires, was built in May 1936 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the foundation of Buenos Aires. It is constructed at the site where the Argentinean flag was flown for the first time. This towering structure is more than 67 meters high and 49 square meters wide.

Also visit La Boca, this is the port where most of the immigrants coming from Spain and Italy settled down at the beginning of the century. This place is so outstanding for its typical houses of zinc and wood. Another place worth visiting is Avenida Independencia, a massive street lined with hundreds of upscale shops, theaters and restaurants. The Colon Theater is one of the best opera houses in the world, also visit the Metropolitan Cathedral, the chief Catholic Church in Buenos Aires.

To the north of Buenos Aires , you can visit Iguazu Falls, which is one of the best natural wanders in the world. The waterfall comprises of about 270 falls along 2.7 kilometers.

Patagonia is one of the largest regions in Argentina , located to the south. You can find whales, penguins, seals and sea lions in Peninsula Valdes, the biggest wildlife preserve in Argentina . Also visit the world renowned national parks in El Calafate and Tierra del Fuego.

Mendoza is the ideal destination for the lovers and admirers of wine and food. It also offers remarkable sights in and around the Andes Mountains, and the wine regions located in the western sides of Mendoza are truly picturesque.

Salta is located in the northern region of Argentina  and is the region where the weather conditions remain stable the whole year around.

The Atlantic Coast is one of the favorite vacation destinations for many local Argentineans as well as for the international tourists of Argentina . It remains at its best in the month of summer.
